Courtney Eiterich and family

As a life-long resident of Greater Kansas City, my family has called Lenexa our home for the past nine years. Dirk and I have been married for 13 years and have three boys: Aydan, 17, Bryson, and Rowan, 11. Yes, they’re twins; no, they aren’t identical! When I am not spending time on advocacy in the community, I substitute teach in the Olathe Public School District and do wine education events.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas, School of Public Affairs where city government and non-profit administration was a primary focus. I also had the opportunity to become a Journeyman Electrician by completing a 4-year apprenticeship. I was employed at General Motors for 10 years and served on the Executive Board for UAW Local 31. During that time, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, got pregnant with twins and made the decision to stay home with my family. I began advocating, volunteering, and fundraising for several nonprofit organizations and have focused primarily on health care access and disability rights. I know first hand how difficult it is to get affordable health insurance and I will continue to advocate until our healthcare system is fixed. One of my current roles is serving as the Government Relations Advocacy Chair for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) in the state of Kansas. Throughout my time in this position, I have personally testified at committee hearings in the Statehouse and advocated at the federal level. This includes writing letters, making phone calls, personal visits with legislators and even using a bull horn outside of their offices to make sure we were heard. I was most recently honored at the NMSS Public Policy conference in Washington D.C. as the 2018 District Activist of the Year.
