YOUR voice, OUR town

Local government is where your voice is heard the loudest. As your representative in Ward 1, my door will always be open to listen to your needs and answer questions surrounding the issues that impact your family. Local governance often lacks participation by constituents who have the most to benefit from a reliable relationship with their local officials. That is why transparency and accessibility between Lenexa residents and city council are at the forefront of my platform.

Let’s keep each other safe!If you're visiting any indoor public space in Kansas (including restaurants, shops and stores) — and while outdoors in public spaces where you are not able to maintain a 6 foot distance between individuals — you must wear a mask under an executive order signed by Governor Laura Kelly.

Beginning Friday, July 3, 2020, the order requires everyone in Kansas to wear a covering over their nose and mouth when:
•In indoor spaces open to the public
•obtaining healthcare services
•outdoors in public areas where a 6-foot distance between individuals can't be maintained
•other relevant situations, including public and common areas of businesses and organizations

The order also outlines circumstances in which individuals are not required to wear masks, including:
•eating or drinking at a restaurant
•participating in some organized sports
•doing work or activities that regulators or relevant professionals have deemed cannot be conducted safely while wearing a face covering

Children age 5 and under do not have to wear a mask. Neither do people with certain medical conditions and people who are deaf or hard of hearing where the ability to see the mouth is essential to communications. Other personal exemptions apply.

"This is a simple, proactive step we can take to keep Kansas at work, get our kids back to school, and keep ourselves and our neighbors healthy," Governor Kelly said in a release on June 29. "Wearing a mask is not only safe — but it is necessary to avoid another shutdown."
